Butterfly Graph Crochet November 9, 2007

This was one of my first projects. i think it took me a year to finish this one, coz its so monotonous for me. i just have to stop after few row,  i got bored quickly with it. and was also put in the UFO bag for quite sometime. so when i found it out again, i decided to finish it and  stopped all ongoing projects and just focus on this one.

it measures 25 x 25 inches, i havent starch it yet coz i dont have the big starching board, so just pin it on the bed to see how does it look like when its stretch out.

i made it using a size 10 rayon thread and 1.3 steel hook.

Actually i got the invitation yesterday and then i register today.

so today is my first day.

looks like i will not have time to crochet since i got a lot to browse there. lolz. im still busy with a lot of things so cant organize my stuff there yet. i think ill need 2 weeks more and the fact that the camera went on vacation err i mean went vacation with my sis. so i really have to wait…

with ramadan, i find a lot of time to crochet since i work for 6 hrs only. i have done few scarves lately and another try for a shrug with yarn this time. i missed making doily so last night i tried to make one in  pineapple pattern. i thought i was going allright and fast but then after 8 rows it doesnt look right for me, i felt like im nto doing it correctly. i have to frog and frog, count and count (im using chart pattern) at first i have counted less and then now that i think ive got the right counts looks like its too much, it will lay flat but a part will be ruffled because its too much i guess. *sigh*

will still try to figure it out today otherwise move on to another doily. before ramadan ends.

i think somebody had done that doily before, saw it on someone’s blog. ill try to recall and browse around maybe that could be of help for me.

Mini Fat Bottom Bag October 3, 2007

Filed under: fat bottom bag — riabeef @ 8:53 pm

ahhhh the ever famous fat bottom bag.

since i dont really crochet by instructions but more on charts, i was sooooo happy finding a chart for a fat bottom bag version from a portuguese blog and watch also instructional  videos  from youtube.com also in portuguese. although i dont understand the language the videos help me figure it out. i had used hdc all over and sc for the flap for the ring handles.

and here it is … came out to be a pounch instead of a bag lolz. as you can see  in the pic i put it on top of a DVD case to show how small it is and i have used my (not same color)bangles as handles, it fits perfectly. i used 5mm hook and this yarn , its 100 grams but didnt finish it all so i might have used 75gms only.

i wanted to do another one and of course a bigger one, ill do that once i found a nice yarn or thread and a handle.

last month i tried to crochet a shrug since it looks easy. i wanted to corchet  wearables in the future so i thought its the  best project to start at. i just crocheted a rectangle and then folded it in half, single crocheted both sides to fasten it together for the armholes and kept a hole in the middle. unfortunately i ran out of thread so i only put dc’s as edgings in the armholes/sleeves. my shrug looks unfinished but anyway my family members were amazed on my “unfinished” FO. lolz.

TINY ELEPHANT May 17, 2007

Filed under: amigurumi — riabeef @ 7:55 pm

im back!

first project after vacation…a miniature elephant. its name is “ELI” measures 2 1/2 inches. i used  pink  monaco thread and  size 6 hook. if you will look closely its not that perfectly done but im very happy with the outcome it looks sooooo cute! my siblings liked it. and even did a photshoot with it.

just yesterday printed out a pattern from the internet and im very eager to finish it.  what ive read before that when making  such kind of project always crochet tight… so my fingers are aching. i dont know if i wanna do it again, maybe with a bigger size of hook or a bigger size of thread.

sorry for the blurry photo…

WOW! Threads and Yarns! March 15, 2007

Filed under: Fiber — riabeef @ 5:00 pm

(This post is one month late!)

i went back to another carft store where i usually go to (a.k.a. a bigger tailoring/accessories shop, 2 story bldg. ). the sales man told me that in one week the new yarns and threads will arrive. and so it came! but im only able to come back after 2 weeks.

new-cotton-threadsi had never seen as many yarns/threads personally in my life before except from photos of course. but its just 3 short shelves.  and i guess some people will have the same stash. but for me they are a lot! the new threads came are 100% cotton, in 50 grams. its thicker than size 10 and looks double the size of size 10. the labels says: “nature cotton”, soft feather, high class knitting yarn. and the suggested hook to be used is 2.5mm-3.5mm. i lurrve them, ive been wanting a thicker thread. and now they are at hand reach.

blue-yarnthis is called baby yarn. 10% polyamid and 90% acrylic. its says brush yarn and hand wash only.

brush yarnsthis variegated yarn from taiwan (mind you this is the first time i saw personally a variegated yarn!) only says on the lable that its 100% acrylic and wash with special care. this also mentioned “brush yarn”.

half of it came from taiwan while the rest are from germany.  there are bunch of white yarns that says on the label its “superwash”. thats all i can recognize since the other half’s label are written in german language, but those yarn looks a bit thinner from the yarns i have showed here.

i wanted to buy a lot of yarns at least each of its kind, but dont want to buy something i dont have any idea what i will do with it. i even want to buy the superwash but they are all in color white. honestly i really wanted to hoard but, practicality strikes me… im thankful!

ok ok after 1 week i went back and bought some more yarms… i only bought one of its kind because im not that much into yarns, just wanted to try them. here are the pics, i also included the label for you to see. and guess what? i even took a pic of the shelves full of yarn with my camera fone and once i figure out to transfer it to the pc then it will be here.

Swaps and Surprise March 13, 2007

i wonder why everytime im expecting my puffies in the mail from swaps, no matter when they send it, i will always receive them all at the same time???

i joined the valentine surprise exchange last feb in the gathering threads its a crazy busy group with heavy posting as well. there are a lot of crochet a long and special projects going on maybe thats the reason why very very few are interested in an exchange. so theres only 2 people exchanging in this said exchange. me and my partner, Judy B. i received them last Feb 28

and here are the pics of what she sent me:

val surprise 22 potholders and a knitted and crochet placemat . i love the texture of the potholders and the variegated color of the edgings.

Val surprise 12 skeins of rug yarns and the label also shows a pattern, a flavored tea, charm candy, patterns, a cute crocss stith kit.

and this is my val-surpriseto my partner .  i made for her a heart motif out of thread and the first time i bravely tried to put together those squares with the flat braid method.  she likes keychains thats why im so glad to find that bear holding a heart in the last minute.

coaster exchangei received also my puffy for the coaster exchange in  atmyhouse. my partner sent me 2 flower coaster in white and pink, and surprisingly it matches the doily i received from another partner last november.

unexpectedly, another member from UK, also in that group sent me threads that she won from ebay. i did a private swap with her before and how sweet of her to remember me. she even included a postcard from their place.

Filed under: barbie clothes — riabeef @ 3:19 pm

these past few days im into crocheting barbie clothes. its the CAL in the crochetville that urged me to dug the my ‘old’ barbie and clothed her literally. then i found out that the new barbies has a better body figure … a realistic body figure i must say (thanx to a ville member also -shell). because if the old  barbies will be a real human being with that body measurement, she will not be able to stand on her own. thats a fact actually.

anyway back to crocehting clothes, not so long ago, when i was younger, i made barbie clothes with scrap fabrics from my mom’s stuff. i even kept a notebook of my ‘sketches’. and now that i have a 3 yr old daughter…im back to playing again. its fun!

i dont want to start a big project that i cant finish quick, so i start with a small one and move to a bigger one after i finished it. i always like to crochet wearables, but im chicken. im scared to big projects….somebody from the ville had advised that if one is afraid to do wearable pattern try it out to smaller a model. tadah! barbie!

one day, when i have the will power ill try it out — the real wearables but for the meantime crocheting doll clothes gives me 50% fulfillment of that dream.

the blue green jacket pattern is from mrs. who’s shrug schematics at crochetville. the red dress isnt finished yet, i still want to do something more to it and that gold thread is  supposed to be a shawl but i become contented with a stole.

i still have some barbie clothes wips…
